#BRING BACK THE BEDTIME STORIES

Little No Peep

Children's short stories about a Bird for kids online

Once upon a long time ago...

there was a little bird- wordy, who got stuck in a snowy
flurry, because she never shut her beak, and did not
hear the other birds speak when it was time to fly
south for the winter.
She would just sit on a branch and sing, then when the wind
blew, she would just swing to-and-fro.
She didn't even know all the other birds had heard the words to
make like trees, and leave.
So when winter came, she sat there and sang, until it Snowed.
She then fell fast asleep from the winter’s cold and
her poor little toes froze to her perch in the tree.
A little girl in a house near by, was wondering why she no
longer heard the song of the bird. So when the peeping
stopped, she put on her shoes and socks, then went out to
search, and found the little bird hanging from her perch.
At first the girl cried, for she thought the bird had died.
But upon her touch, the little bird flapped her wings and
screamed.
At once Becky knew what she had to do before the little bird
flew.
Careful not to bend her beak, or break a feather,
Becky carefully picked the bird up, and put her in her sweater,
then brought her in the house out of the weather.
Once by the fire, with the bird beside her, she too fell fast
asleep. Then the warm little bird, once again began to peep,
and sing her song.
